My girlfriend and I are looking into breeding and raising rabbits for pets and for sale.. I drive a truck for a living and I saw the sign on your driveway for custom cage works and got the web address.. well here I am checking you out.. The question that i have is. Do you build cages such as rabbit hutches and about how much would you charge to build such a cage? Me driving 48 states and canada too, I dont have the time to build one out of 2x4s and rabbit wire like i used to do in high school.. I look foward to talking and hopefully doing business with you.. P.S. you may talk to my girlfriend Tonya about what kind of cages or hutches she would like to have and she will notify me on the road.. Thanks alot and looking foward to hearing from you Sincerely Larry Dick and Tonya Page.. Larry J. They are so awesome! We just have a couple of questions for you. 1: The Sugar Gliders always leave behind light brown chunks of glider grub, what is this ingredient and are they missing some nutrition that they need by not eating it? 2: Pros and cons of giving jars of baby food to the gliders? 3: When are you coming back to Utah? THANKS FOR ALL! We look forward to seeing them at a future show. I just purchased a little girl from you in Reno. She is so sweet. Thank you very much. Melissa Melissa Bartels <lissa_89433@sbcglobal.net> Sun Valley, NV USA - Monday, October 27, 2003 at 17:34:44 (EST) Thank you Melissa, it was our pleasure to meet you and place a baby in your care. See you next show. I bought Kuki and Koko about 2 and a half years ago and they are doing well. They are so loved!!! They are the light of my life and they know it! I would like to know when you will be in the Phoenix area again because I am thinking about getting a little male so my girls will be able to have babies. We are going to be building a new house and thought about having an aviary in the back back so the gliders can have lots of room to play. They already have so much freedom, but it would be nice if they could have a place that is outside too so they will be able to have some more variety. I would love to see a schedule of the shows you are at so I can plan to attend more of them. I am still so happy that I met you and can't wait to see you guys again. Being a "glider mom" is so much fun! Thak you again for introducing me to these wonderful pets! Sincerely, Nawlene Reynolds Nawlene Reynolds <nawlene@earthlink.net> Apache Junction, AZ USA - Friday, October 24, 2003 at 14:19:27 (EDT) Hi Nawlene. Glad to know Kuki and Koko are doing well. I am very familiar with them, and you are right they are very loved and I am sure they do know it. Thanks for the many people you have shown them to and all of the referals. You probably have checked out our Aviaries on our web site. If there is anything we can do to help you decide on one of our standard units or if you ever want a quote on a special order one, just let me know. Check with me at my office about the show. We may be in Tucson in Jan. but haven't decided for sure yet. We bought two Sugar Gliders at the Home Show in Sandy, Utah. We are so in love with our little gritters. They are so much fun to take all around in their pouches. We named them BamBam and Pebbles. BamBam is my husbands, and Pebbles is mine. They are bonding so great with each of us. We are enjoying them so much. Thanks, so much for bringing them to the home show. Sincerely, Karen Thorngren Karen Thorngren <KThornie1@aol.com> Kearns, , Ut USA - Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 01:00:18 (EDT) Hi Karen, and thanks for the kudos. Nothing makes us happier than to know new glider owners are loving them and discovering just how great they are as pets. Hope to see you at a future show. I recently purchased two baby sugar gliders (male and female)from you at the Home Show in Orlando. When I attempted to get one out of the cage ,it lundged at me defensively. In all fairness to the babies,we have not spent as much time with them that we should be. Do my kids and I still have a chance of bonding with them? Larraine Bejsovec <thebejsovecs@cfl.rr.com> orlando, fl USA - Friday, October 10, 2003 at 09:19:09 (EDT) The longer you let them go and grow without a lot of attention, the more patience and care it takes to get them to bond. However, they are still pretty young and should still respond to the proper attention. Spend as much time as you can with them on your person. Holding them gently and rubbing them firmly with a lot of contact with your hands will help them to feel safe with you. Babies respond so well to this type of treatment that almost any baby glider can be made into a great pet. In the pouch they are warm, snug, and there is a lot of motion. In the wild later in life, the safest place for them to be is in their nest den. The whole colony (10-15) will be found snuggling tightly together. In the den they are protected from their predators and becaust they love to bunch up, again they are warm, snug, and the mass is usually moving as they constantly jockey for position. You can emulate this environment by rubbing them firmly in your hands. Again they are warm, snug and it is moving. I know of no better way to calm them down and cause them to start trusting you. Soon they are calming down and quit crabbing. This is the first sign that they are beginning to trust you. This is just the beginning of bonding. They can't start bonding until they are not afraid of being in your hands. You want them to feel that the safest place to be is you hands. This way when you want to pick them up or put them up, they will not flinch or run from your hands. One other tip. When a baby is very afraid, do not look them directly in the eye. This causes the fear in them that their main predator causes in them when they stare at them. Birds of prey look directly at them before attacking. Instead, just glance at them or look at an angle at them. When they are scared, cover their eyes with your hands and start rubbing them as described above. Soon they won't be afraid of your stare, and you won't have to divert your eyes. Good luck. If you have other questions please call our toll free number for a quicker response. ARE YOU COMING TO THIS AREA ANYTIME SOON, I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A
PAIR OF SUGARGLIDERS. MY TENANT HAS THEM AND THEY ARE SO CUTE AND UNIQUE.
PLEASE LET , KNOW. IS A PAIR BETTER TO START WITH OR JUST ONE?? Hi Mary. The soonest that I know of that we will be in New Orleans is March 3-7, 2004. I do have another opportunity for you to be able to get them in December. We will be going thru your area. I will contact you by email about this. I love the website it has alot of useful information. The only thing I think it is missing is toys that the sugar gliders can play with and or where to buy them. Jeni West <sgrjeni@hotmail.com> Universal City, TX USA - Tuesday, October 07, 2003 at 15:57:55 (EDT) Hi Jeni. You are right. We are a little light on the toys. We assumed that people would get them at their local pet stores, but there are many we need to provide. I plan to address this soon. Thanks. We seen ya'll at the Home & Garden Show in New Orleans on Sunday and were debating if we were going to buy a sugar glider for my daughter. Her birthday is in December. I was wondering if ya'll would be back in the New Orleans area before December. If you can let me know as soon as possible. Look for many improvements coming soon. I just got a sugar glider and I can't pick it up iwthout it biting me, she's already made me bleed. Cinnamon is hyper and violent, I'm trying to get it to be friends with this other sugar glider, the other sugar glider wants to be friends with cinnamon, but she keeps clawing and trying to bite sugar. Please give me an idea to make her stop biting. Iysha Dallas, Tx USA - Tuesday, August 05, 2003 at 22:13:54 (EDT) Lysha there can be several reasons for a new glider biting. If you bought it as a 8 to 12 week old baby, you may be able to make it stop biting. Go to the Sugar Glider section of the Animal Gallery of this web site and read about our method for teaching them to stop biting. If you bought an older one it will take quite a while to win it's trust. If it is older and has not been socialized well or at all, it may not be possible. Hi,I will be the proud parent of 2 gliders in 2 weeks!!!I am so excited and have had a blast preparing the "nursery" for my babies to get here,I am just counting the days.It has been fun buying all their toys and goodies and building their cage.Anyway they will be SO loved!!! I saw them just yesterday at the fair ror the first time. david williams <dcclans@aol.com> casper, wy USA - Sunday, July 13, 2003 at 13:56:20 (EDT) Hi guys I am the owner of Emma. I wrote before from Texas. I have since moved to Illinois and have discovered that it is actually my female that has been killing the babies. I took the male out this last time and the babies still died. In fact Emma ate one of them and would have eaten the other had I not removed it. I have been feeding her the Eucalyptus diet from exotic nutrition. One person suggested that her diet might be the cause. Do you have any suggestions? I am getting frustrated and thinking about quiting breeding if I can't get this situation changed. I have already lost 5 babies to this. Also I am thinking about seeing if I can become a contact for you here in IL. Would you send me some info if you are interested? Thanks Jennifer <musicnut07@yahoo.com> Normal, IL USA - Thursday, July 10, 2003 at 20:25:43 (EDT) I love my sugar glider Vegas, I got her in Vegas on my anniversary and she has been the best little thing ever. I love her like she is my little baby. Sounds crazy but she is spoiled and the way she loves to be fed and how she cries if she wants to be played with more really makes my laugh Jocelyn McClellan <jocelynmccellan@hotmai.com> Boise , Id USA - Wednesday, July 09, 2003 at 02:14:49 (EDT) Bro Mike(as my son calls you), I am the mother of the little guy, Glenn, who followed you around in Hot Springs, AR for 3 days in late May. I just wanted to thank you for your generosity and kindness that you showed to my son. You may not know it but you helped to answer a prayer for my son. After seeing the gliders on Friday, he, like any other normal 8 year old, begged for one. My husband told him to pray about it. Well, his prayer got answered. Amy is doing very well and has brought so much fun to our home that we have decided to get her a buddy. Thank you once again for your kindness. Please let us know when you'll be close again. Laurie Fiedler <themightymom@cs.com> Phoenix, AZ USA - Thursday, June 12, 2003 at 22:11:30 (EDT) i bought my daughter male and female sugar glyders no vet in my area treats them or has very little knowledge on them are they safe as for as diesises micheleguin <jmlriverrats.com> adger, al USA - Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at 03:15:07 (EDT) Yes, they are safe. Sugar Gliders are carriers of no diseases and therefore do not require shots or inocculations. If your glider is showing good signs of health, there is no reason for concern. It is important to know where you would take it if it was injured or got sick at a future date. You may need to check out the exotic animal vets in larger towns near you. You were at the Central Wyoming Fair & Rodeo last year and I was wondering if you were planning to be here again this year. If not, is there a Sugar Glider breeder in our area that we can contact? Patricia <pgcdoane@hotmail.com> Casper, WY USA - Friday, June 06, 2003 at 11:11:37 (EDT) Yes, we will be at the Casper Wyoming Fair and Rodeo July 8-12. Then we will be at the Rock Springs Big Show July 24 thru Aug 3. Hope to see you at one or the other. Thank for my Two new friends. I have now had both my friends for 9 + mounth. They have made grate adjustments to our family. We still have a lot of work to do, but it is well worth it. Next time your in Phoenix, Az. I have a few frends that would like to meet you. Greetings. buscadores <info@buscadores.com> USA - Friday, May 23, 2003 at 16:58:59 (EDT) My sugar Glider is the main attraction in my house. when i whent shopping one day i brought Rocky with me. when i was looking around i started talking to Rocky. then the cashier heard me and asked what i had he was agreat hit. I was also in another Pet store and for just a sugar glider it was $$$$400$$$$$ which was a huge rip off rather than Custom Cage Works. Are peach branches bad for Gliders to have in there cage?? P.S. thanks for the great deal Glider lover : ) <none> Las Vegas , NV USA - Monday, May 19, 2003 at 18:57:01 (EDT) My husband and I bought a male anf female from you at the JAX home show. We named them "Lilo ans Stitch" but I have another nickname for her because she crabs and bites me. Stitch seems to have bonded to me. Will both gliders bond to both of us or just one glider per person? We also have dogs and cats, and we donnot allow them near the "Sugar Babies" As for the woman in FL wha has a dog, she can put him in the other room when she plays with her glider and very carefully introduce the two. It's been about 5 months, when the doges get too close to the cage Lilo lets everyone know. Stitch will sit on my shoulder for hours, or climb and intomy cleavage and goes to sleep. Will be ordering some food from you soon. Reguards, Debbie Debbie <cavegirl16@yahoo.com> Starke, FL USA - Wednesday, May 07, 2003 at 22:37:24 (EDT) Thanks Debbie. Both of them whould be happy to be with each of you if you have both handled them enough while young. However, they will each have there own preference for one or the other of you. This is usually based on who gives each of them the most attention. I would like to receive a catalog with specified cage sizes and prices if possible. My address is 2267 Charlie Pounds Road, Stantonville, TN 38379 Thank you Jammie Roberson <dolphin6324489@yahoo.com> Stantonville, TN USA - Tuesday, May 06, 2003 at 20:55:22 (EDT) Hi Jammie. I'm sorry but we do not have a catalog. Our website is the best we can do. However, we are currently updating the sections of it so that soon all of the web site sections will be as complete with information (descriptions and prices) as the Sugar Glider, and Cat sections are now. Comming next will be the Aviary and Dog sections. In the mean time if you have a request for more information, just call our toll free number 866 563 5099 and we will be glad to help you. Great site!!! Zink <pep@hotmail.com> USA - Monday, April 28, 2003 at 14:20:41 (EDT) It would be great if you could post your show schedule on the web site! My 16 year old son purchased "Molly" at the Home and Patio Show in Jacksonville, FL in Feb '03 and she is just a wonderful addition to our home. She is full of vim and vinegar! I am interested in getting her a companion, perhaps a brown or cinnamon, but we would like to get her in person. Can you perhaps give me dates that you might be in our area? Jacksonville, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Pensacola, FL or even South Georgia, perhaps Valadosta? I worry about having a little one shipped and of course the added expense would put her out of price range. Molly is quite happy and gets attention many hours every evening, but I think she'd like someone to snuggle with during the day! Melissa Sargent <msarge5@yahoo.com> Jacksonville, FL USA - Friday, April 25, 2003 at 23:06:53 (EDT) You're instincts are right Melissa. All sugar gliders are most happy and content with another one. We can give them all the love in the world but there are at least two social things they miss without a companion. They love to snuggle when sleeping as you said, and they love to groom each other. We may start posting in the near future, but right now we do not have most of our fall and winter schedule worked out. I can tell you that there will be a Tampa show in August (I think) and a Jacksonvill show sometime this fall. We look forward to seeing youl. You are also on our mailing list so you will receive post cards or emails a couple of weeks ahead of time. My boyfriend and I bought our baby, "Junior," at the New Orleans Home and Garden show 4 days. He seems to be having some trouble adjusting. We've been holding him about 3-4 hours a day but he's usually asleep. We're both at work during the day but when we come home he's usually asleep and he continues to sleep until 11pm. Is this something to worry about? He doesn't seem to have bonded yet either. Will getting him a friend help? Please give us some suggestions. We really want him to be happy here with us. We love our baby boy. Thank you. Christina christina <boyblondie@hotmail.com> gretna, la USA - Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at 00:19:18 (EDT) Hi Christina. I am answering this quite late, I hope you have called or sent a regular email so we were able to help you when you needed it. Getting a freind is a good idea, but probably not your most pressing issue. It is common for the babies to sleep a lot, but don't wait for them to wake up before holding them and playing with them. It is very important to hold them as much as possible while they are young. The best way to get them to really bond is by holding them securely in your hands, and rubbing them gently but firmly. They like the security they get from a lot of contact with your skin. I recently bought 2 male sugar gliders from you at a pet expo in VA. One glider seems to be a little older than the other one. The younger glider cries a lot to be with the other one when they are each being held. If the younger one finds the other, he immediately scurries over to him. This is fine, but...the younger glider ALWAYS gets on top of the older one and does not get off. He just seems to ride on him as if he was his mother. The older one has to do EVERYTHING with the younger one on top - hop, climb, glide. At times the older one gets annoyed and swats and/or nips at the younger one. (Who can blame him!) What is the reason for this and will he outgrow this behavior? I feel bad for the older one to be "saddled" with the younger, and the younger being so needy (if that is what this is). Any suggestions? What is going on? Carol <chincke> Montgomery Village, MN USA - Monday, April 21, 2003 at 17:10:44 (EDT) Hi Carol. Younger Sugar Gliders often exhibit this behavior. It is looking to the older one as a surrogate mother. They will outgrow this and everything should work out. As you said, the older one will make it more independent as time goes on. Hi, We purchased a baby boy blonde sugar glider 3/30/03 at the Home and Garden show here in Phoenix. He is wonderful. He sleeps in my hands for hours. In the morning he nips and licks my fingers. I take him to work with me all the time. He is the best pet I have ever had. Thank you so much for your knowledge and your kindness. Everyone one at the show was very nice and helpful. Hope to see you at your next show. God bless you all. Thanks, Tammy Jo Tammy Jo Encinas <fabianandtammy@aol.com> Phoenix, AZ USA - Saturday, April 19, 2003 at 15:54:54 (EDT) We just bought our school a sugar glider. He's absolutely wonderful! He chatters a lot but has finally gotten used to me, after he pooped and wet on me (we're bonded). Can't wait to see the eyes on our students faces when they come back from Easter vacation to see the new edition. Sr. Maryann Schaefer, FMA <srmschaefer@immaculatahigh.org> Marrero, LA USA - Thursday, April 17, 2003 at 16:45:10 (EDT) I am 13 years old. My mom says if I can raise half of the puechase amout needed to purchase this animal i can get one. I have a cage for the sugar glider already. All I will need to purchase is the food and the sugar glider itself. I have always wanted a sugar glider since the first time I have seen them when they were down in New Orleans. I hope to soon be purchaseing a sugar glider. If there are any notices of being back in New Orleans please contact me.Thanks. Mindy Hussey <kdhusseyover40@bellsouth.net> chalmette , la USA - Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at 20:55:44 (EDT) Hi I bought my female sugar glider, Emma, from you about a year ago at the Irving Reptile Expo. She bonded with me quite well and trusts me. She was even good for the vet that gave her a clean bill of health to fly with me. A friend gave me a male sugar glider a few months ago to ensure that he had a good home and he has bred with Emma a couple of times. The only problem is that every time the joeys get old enough to start coming out of the pouch he has killed them with in a week. Is that normal? Should I just start separating him from Emma and the joeys? I have lost three babies this way now and would like to prevent it happening again. You all have a very informative site and I appreciate all that I can learn from it. Jennifer <musicnut07@yahoo.com> Cleburne, TX USA - Tuesday, April 15, 2003 at 18:03:03 (EDT) Hi Jennifer. I am surprised that he keeps killing the babies. Normally the male will not hurt his own babies. I guess the only thing to do is to separate them before they come out of the pouch as you said. Although she appreciates the help of a good male. My husband and I saw you at the Pet Expo in Chantilly, VA on Friday. We were the ones that hung around until the place closed, Max had fallen asleep in my hand. We are certainly going to be purchasing 2 Gliders in the near future, and hopefully from you. Do you know if you will be back up in this area again anytime in the next few months? I know you are reluctant to ship, as al I, so we will wait until you are close enough that we can get them from you directly. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of Gliders with us, and thank Max for napping and bathing in my hand:) Kauri & Marc <knmhudson@earthlink.net> Haymarket, VA USA - Monday, April 07, 2003 at 13:56:42 (EDT) I just recently purchased my "sugar" from the sportsman show in New Orleans in March 2003. I can't seem to bond with her. I play with her every night and I put one of my shirts in the cage. Hopefully she will come around. Other than that, she is doing awesome. She eats very well. Hope to see you'll at another show. Christine Rushbrook <AMTOW@CABLEONE.NET> Prescott, Az USA - Saturday, April 05, 2003 at 01:41:22 (EST) I got my baby Lily at the home and garden show on 3/29/03. Tammi <tlcpruss@cox.net> Tolleson, AZ USA - Wednesday, April 02, 2003 at 20:53:48 (EST) We are looking for an aviary for outside. i'm wondering how do you
ship the aviaries such as the hexigon or the octagon aviaries. I read
that they can't be taken apart. Response: Thanks Terry for your interest in our aviaries. Our Aviary section of the web site is very outdated, and we are correcting it now. Our aviaries now are built in panels and can be shipped. They are assembled with special clamp kits that we manufacture. Therefore they can be shipped fairly reasonably. I will send you an email with more details. Steve Larkin We bought a female glider at your show yesterday. We named her Scooter! She is already bonding to us, eating great and so far does not bite! She is awesome! Thanks for all your help. Michelle Betchner <shelleybetchner@aol.com> Chandler, AZ USA - Sunday, March 30, 2003 at 20:42:50 (EST) Hi i love yalls website and yalls good advice.I am planning on getting
a sugar glider in a few weeks.Which ones are better pets a female or
a male? Thank you lauren. Response: Hi Lauren. In our opinion both male and female sugar gliders are equally good pets. Males have a bad rap for having more of an odor, but we find that if you will feed it the diet we reccomend that neither one have a bad odor. If you think you will eventually have a male and a female, then we would suggest getting the female first. That way you won't have an older male wanting to breed the younger female at the first opportunity. Sometimes the females are considered to be meaner. This is only because she is often more timid and afraid of people. Her crabbing is only a defensive (not offensive) noise because she is still afraid. Once you have held her in your hands a lot and rubbed her firmly, she will begin to trust you, and will then start bonding to you. We often say that it may take a few more hours or a few more days to get a female to totally trust you. This is just a generality however. Most of the time both our males and females are quick bonders. HI, just wanted to drop a line and tell you that our glider "peanut" is doing great! We got him in late Jan when you guys were in the Springs. Thanks so much for getting back to us about his eye back in early Feb. It cleared up nicely and he is happy as a lark! He loves cottage cheese and apples. We recently saw someone else who got one at the same show and the two gliders got along so well it was really cute! :) Keep up the great work! I hope we will be able to meet up when you are in town again! Can you tell me? Kat <Kartweety@msn.com> Acton, CA USA - Friday, January 03, 2003 at 00:18:33 (EST) Response: Yes, unfortunately Sugar Gliders are illegal in California. I think there is a large group of people trying to get this changed as they did the ferrets. There are a lot of gliders in the state, but they are illegal. View Year 2004 2003 2002 2001 2000 |
