6' Hexagon Walk-in Aviary The Hexagon and Octagon Aviaries are some of our most popular in the line of Walk-In Aviaries. They are very attractive and go with almost any setting, and they are fairly inexpensive. They are available with the color of your choice for the roof, the wire of your choice, and are available in several different sizes and heights. These aviaries are of the highest quality and strength.
This section offers the 6' diameter Hexagon Aviary. The size of this aviary is roughly 6' across from point to point, and the side panels are 6' tall. The roof adds nearly a foot to the height. When placing an order for this cage, you can add height to it in increments of 1 foot. This will be available under Options when placing your order. In the 6' Hexagon Aviary the door is a full 3'x6' in size and has a key-locking door handle. Safety areas are available as an option for this size aviary. The purpose of a safety area is to provide the care taker the ability to enter an area which can be closed off before entering the main cage. This eliminates the posibility of escaping animals. The safety area will be 3'x2'x6' and will be made using the same wire as selected for the aviary. In the case where a safety area is ordered, the outer door swings out, and has the locking door handle, while the inner door swings in, and is spring loaded to stay closed when not in use. Notice that the door has a 4" step-over rather than having the door at ground level. This is done so that the door will not rub along the ground if placed on an uneven surface. Also, when using a safety area with the cage, the inner door will not rub on the litter in the cage. This adds work and materials to every door panel, however, it is this detail and many more that make a Custom Cages cage so enjoyable to own and use. When ordering the cage, you will have the ability to add the safety area if you wish, under Options.
These aviaries can be placed on a concrete slab, or set on level ground covered with gravel. As an option, you can have a section of the lower part of each panel made of solid metal matching the roof. The purpose of this is to allow gravel or other substrata to be built up inside the cage and not fall out through the wire. Another purpose for doing this is to keep small dogs, and other animals from looking in the cage and bothering the caged animals. We have one price for 12" or less litter guards, and another price for 12" to 24" litter guards. The entire lower half of the cage can be the colored metal to match the roof if you wish. Many of the aviaries we have and use at Custom Cages are made in this fashion. They not only are attractive, but are easy to winterize as well. When it starts getting cold we just wrap the upper half with clear plastic that can be bought in any fabric store by the yard. It is uslually cheaper to make the lower half the colored metal than to add a 12" or 24" litter guard, due to the fact that we do not have to weld in a new crossbar on each panel (to attach the metal), since the center bar is already available for attachment. When you select a cage you will have the opportunity to add a litter guard the height of your choice, under Options. If you want to cover the lower half entirely, just click on 35"-36" under the Options.
The colored roof is made of 26 gauge metal with a baked on finish inside and out. The inside will be white, and the outside the color you choose. The manufacturer has a 20 year guarantee against color failure. If utility, and not looks is your priority, you can have the cage built with a galvanized roof rather than the colored roof. This will result in a reduction of cost. When ordering the cage, you will have the ability to deduct the cost of the colored roof if you wish, under Options.
The prices shown in the following tables assume the frame will be made of triple galvanized 1" square steel tubing, and that the resulting frame will be powder coated black. One way to save some on the price is to not powder coat the frame. Since the tubing is galvanized it will look acceptable without the expense of the powder coating. When ordering the cage, you will have the ability to deduct the frame powder coating if you wish, under Options.
